The Clyde Valley has been a route between Scotland and England for thousands of years. The geography makes it an ideal region to use as a base to explore the market towns nearby as well as the major cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

New Lanark The 200 year old world heritage site is surrounded by woodlands. It has been restored as a living communuty and monument to Robert Owen, mill owner and social pioneer. The falls of Clyde, nearby, is one of Scotlands sites of natural beauty.

Biggar Biggar is a pleasant market town. It has a surprising number of small museums. These range from local history and archeaology, to the home of Albion Motors founded in 1899 and the only preserved gasworks in Scotland.

Golf - Golfers in the area can enjoy some of Scotland's wonderful courses. There are many golf courses near Crawford or you can drive to the famous courses of St Andrews or Gleneagles. There is also the highest golf course in Scotland only 20 minutes away in Leadhills. We can organise tee off times for courses if requested.

Fishing - Some of the best fishing can be found on the Clyde nearby. A day ticket for brown trout fishing is only £5.

Walking - For the walker, the Southern Upland Way offers the chance to walk rolling hills in solitude. There are historic sites and pleasant towns and villages. The area has many documented walks within easy reach. We are a popular stopping off place for those walking from Lands end to John O'Groats.

Cycling - Many miles of new cycle tracks have been formed to encourage cyclists to visit our area and enjoy the scenery.

Shopping - There are Woollen Mill and craft outlets nearby. an hours drive takes you to the city centre shops of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
